PRESEDENTS MESSAGE...

My Dear Rotarians,

At the outset I would like to convey my sincere thanks to all of you in giving me an opportunity to serve our club as its President. I am indeed obliged by the support and cooperation that you have extended to me throughout the year.

The glimpses of various projects and meetings (a total of 51) done throughout the year is given in the following pages.

I take this opportunity to thank AG Suresh Gandhi for his valuable advice throughout the year. His perseverance is the only reason for our club getting the PLATNUM CLUB award at the VAPI DISTRICT CONFERENCE. I also thank evergreen Rtn. PPB.C. Sanghani for this contribution to the Rotary Foundation and encouragement through out the year. I thank R.Ann. Bindi Daxesh Kothari for making family entertainment programs of the club a super success.

It was a satisfying experience working with hon. secretary Rtn. Chetan Nandani, Treasurer Rtn. Kishor Doshi and dynamic club service director Rtn. Ketan Joshi.

Last but not least, special thanks to our beloved DG Ashish Roy for his encouragement throughout the year. I thank him for the opportunity he gave me to represent our club at various District Events.

I would cherish the memories of this year throughout my life. I extend my best wishes to the incoming team under the leadership of Rtn. Harish Kothari.

AN OVERVIEW

CLUB SERVICE AVENUE

Three Club Assemblies were held during the year

  • A Closed meeting was held to discuss the planning of the projects and the meetings to be held for the year ahead.
  • It was decided to take up the challenge of becoming the PLATINUM CLUB in the district. A special closed meeting was organized to plan out the fund collection to achieve this target.
  • The District governer Ashish Roy’s visit was on 13th November 2006. A special club assembly was held to plan out the day with the district governer.

Greetings: Great work done by Rtn. Sandip Gandhi. Greeting card were sent on member’s birthday and on wedding anniversary.

Self Introduction of new members : A family meet to interact with the newly installed member and their family members. Rtn Piyush Panchasara, Rtn Kamlesh Bharadia and Rtn Mansukh Kanabar introduced themselves, their wieves and talked about their vocation.

Skit “PUBLICITY IN ROTARY”: Our club was assigned to perform a skit at the Bhavnagar intercity meet. The topic was publicity in Rotary. Rtn. Dr. Easwar and Rtn. Sandeep Parekh wrote a hilarious skit which was very well performed by Rtn. Suresh Gandhi, Rtn. Sandeep Parekh, Rtn. Kishore Doshi and Rtn. Piyush Panchasara. The same skit was performed at our regular clb meeting and was enjoyed by all. The hilarious banner is shown below:

District Sports : Our club Participated actively in the following District sports:

Cricket - Round 2 Table tennis
Volleyball - Runner Up Badminton
Snooker - Runner Up Carom

District Conference:

  • 28 members attended the district conference. The programme , speaker & food were of excellent quality. The attention to detail Plannig was praise worthy.

    Aamne Saamne was a lively debate on “DOES ROTARY MAKE A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE TO SOCIETY” Our President Sandep Parekh & A G Sureshbhai Gandhi participated in the debate.

  • Our club received the coveted PLATINUM CLUB AWARED by the worthy hands of past RI president Bichai Rattakul and RI director David Linnet.
  • PP B. C. Sanghani became the major donor.
  • Our club received The Best Club Award and The Best President Award (Rtn. Vijay Badani) for the Year 2004-05

“Lead the way” : The thee for the new Rotary year 06-07 was revealed by PE Harish Kothari. He Shared the vision of DG (06-07) Bipin Vadher.

Condolence meet: Rajkot lost the doyen of Rotary world PP Dinkarbhai Joshi. Special condolence meet was by former Rotarians and the Rotarians of other clubs of Rajkot.

Club Directory – A detailed directory with member photographs and family and business information was released by the worthy hands of PP B. C. Sanghani. It was compiled byclub service director Rtn. Ketan Joshi

Project Publicity – Rtn. Ketan Joshi clubservice director has done great job in putting the name of our club in all the news papers published from the city. Photographs and write ups of various projects done by or club were published. This created a lot of awareness about our club activities.

Web Site – PE Rtn. Harish kothari & Secratory elect Rtn. Ketan Joshi have worked diligently in preparing the website of our club. This website containing the history of the club and major projects will be officially ‘opened’ on the Installation Day of the new team 12-7-06.

FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAMMES

Musical Entertainment programme : A family musical entertainment programme was organized with the help of local musicians and singers. This was a joint programme with RC Rajkot Greater.

Programme for ladies : A cooking competition for the ladies of our club was organized. An expert judge Jyotikaben Mehta Invited to judge the recepies for taste and presentation The event was a super success with ladies coming in with a wide varity of mouth watering delicacies. Surprisingly they were more punctual in their presentation timings than the usual late arrivals of Rotarians at the meetings

New year Sneh Milan : New Year’s Sneh Milan meeting for the Rotary family to welcome the traditional new year.

Sharad Utsav: Sharad Punima was celebrated with gaiety with traditional garba programme followed by midnight dinner with “doodh poha”.

Inter Club Antakshari : Rotary Interclub Antakshari was organized by RC Rakot Greater. Two team from club participated. One of them received the runners up prize.

Charter day celebrations: The club celebrated its 69th birthday on 9th December. P P Dinkarbhai Joshi gave a brief history of the club for the benefit of new members.

New year eve celebration : Our club never had a New Year Party in the last decade. This was attempted for the first time this year. A grand party was organized with music, games and dance. Members of the Rotary

Fund raising event: A Musical fund raising event was organized by A G Suresh Gandhi, Pritam Shah and orchestra were invited from Bhavnagar to perform. Our club collected Rs. 2.37 lacs.

Picnic : A day picnic was organized at Prakruti Upvan. Arrangement for swimming and games were followed by delicious lunch. Members and children sportingly participated the games conducted by R. Ann Bindi Kothari. It was a very enjoyably outing.

Talents & Entertainment evening : An excellent platform for Annets of the club to show their talents. There was active participation of Annets from 5-18 years. The enthralled the audience with songs, dance, music, mime, skit & Jokes R. Ann. Bindi D. Kothari then made members & their spouses dance to her tunes. ( Selected by her !) It was a funfilled evening.

During the year we had the priviledge of listening of the following speakers:

Installation Ceremony – Installation of the incoming team was done by DGE Bipin Vadher. Three new member s were inducted into the club.

Shri S. S. Mantri was the key – note speaker at the installation meet.

Rtn. Deepak Agrawal talked on his visit to UK as GSE team Leader.

Rtn. Jayant Gosalia – the Macro Polo of our club talked on Rotary in “ Central Europe ”

Annet Hiral H Kothari talked on education in UK and International opportunities.

Dr Sonal Shah an eminent gynecologist talked on “ adolescence and Gynacological problems ”. This was a special multimedia presentation for ladies and girls above twelve years of the club

DG Ashish Roy on his official visit to our club. He also inducted two new members ( including a lay Rotarian) to the club.

New member induction & Oriention : AG Suresh Gandhi inducted three new members to the club. The oriention of all the new members inducted during the year was done by PP Rajesh Kothari and PP Prakash. I. Shah.

Budget analysis by renowned tax expert Rtn. Daxesh Kothari at a packed Hemu Gadhvi mini auditorium.

Multimedia media presentation on Financial Literacy by Rtn. Piyush Psnchasara.

Shri Pradip Jobanputra enthralled the audience with his oratory skills on his talk on “Communication skills and Body language”.

Dr. Jitendra Adhiya talked on his bestseller “prerana nu zarnu”.

Shri Mukeshkumar (IAS) Commissioner, Rajkot Municipal Corporation talked on Urban Issues.

COMMUNTY SERVICE AVENUE

Supply of food packets: On the day the new team got installed there was an appeal from District Collectorate to supply urgently food packets to the flood affected areas of Central Gujarat. Underr the leadership of Rtn. Kishore Doshi and Rtn. Bharat Prasana our members swung into action and a special kitchen was set up. We made and dispatched 6000 food packets containing Puri, Gathia and Sukhadi in three days. The market value of the food packets was about Rs. 90000/-

Tree plantation of 100 saplings was done at Metoda GIDC. At the factory of PP Rajesh Kohari.

Cultural educational programme for children conducted regularly by R.Ann Amita Nandani. This program is done on weekly basis and 18-20 children participate regularly.

Multidiagnostic medical camp was organized by Rtn. Dr. Ketan Shah and his team of doctors. 325 patients were examined and free medicines worth Rs. 5000 was distributed. This camp was held at the economically backward area of Popatpara of Rajkot.

A Global walk a thon was organized by Rtn. Dr. Easwar in association with IMA Rajkot. The venue was Race Coure ring road where there are large number of people coming for the morning walk. Over 2000 joggers/walkers participated for diabetes awareness on world diabetic day 14th November to create awareness of diabetics. DG Ashsh roy was also present during the event.

Bone Desitometer (BMD) camp was organized by our club. 198 patients were examined and given free advice. The services were rendered by Rtn. Dr. Ketan Shah.

Diabetes food camp was organized on 14th November by R.Ann Dr. Subhashini Easwar. 25c patients were examined and given treatment.

Our club received 10 glucometers from Rtn.Dr. Easwar for Juvenile diabetic patients. We have adopted two juvenile diabetic patients through Rtn. Dr. Nikhil Sheth. Our club has received aid of Rs. 12000 from members for juvenile diabetic patients.

Dermatology & Plastic Surgery Camp was organized by Rtn. Dr. Neerjaben Sheth. 51 patients took advantage of the camp.

Thallasmia Project: This is our permanent project under the leadership of our community service director Rtn. Dr. Nikhil Sheth. A total of Rs. 57000/- was spent in giving 3 desferal pumps to needy children and providing injections. Well done Rtn. Dr. Nkhilbhai!

A blood Donation Camp was organized on 23rd February to mark the birthday of Rotary International 13 units of blood of Rotarians was collected.

Distribution of Free Rations to 500 families was organized by Rtn. Kishore Doshi courtesy Smt. Shardaben Ratilal Doshi Trust. DG Ashish Roy and first lady Meera Roy were present for the event.

To provide clean drinking water is one of the thrust areas of Rotary International. Our club installed Aqua Guard Water purifiers at Murlidhar High school, Mavdi Gam and at Rotary Kanyashala at Tankara at the cost of Rs. 14000/-.

A primary school Library was started by the worthy hands of DG Ashish Roy and first lady Meera Roy at Rotary schools of Gunada and Nesdsa. Books worth Rs. 5000/- were given. These books will inculcate the habit of reading in the young children DG Ashish Roy and PIWCP Meera Roy were highly impressed by the educational models prepared by the educational models prepared by the school teachers in such remote areas.

VOCATIONAL SERVICE AVENUE

Career guidance seminar for XI and XII science students was conducted by Rtn. Dharmesh Kamania. Career guidance seminar for XII commerce students was organized after the results of standard XII. Prof. Pradeep Jobanputra ( Head-computer department, PDM college of commerce Rajkot), a chartered accountat and a company secretary were the expert faculty. 79 students participated and 9 changed their subjects after learning more about career prospects.

Our Club gave the Rotary Vocational service award to Dr. Bharat Modi of Rajkot Municipal Corporation for his exemplary services in Polio eradication. The award was given by RMC Commissioner Mr. Mukeshkumar. Also present were the Chief Medical Officer Dr. Bhanderi and Deputy Medical Officer Dr. Rathod.

Micro Credit: A loan of Rs. 5500 was given to Mrs. Jayshree R. Patwari to purchase a sewing & embroidery machine. This machine helped to generate extra income for the family. The loan was repaid in six month.

INTERNATIONAL SERVICE AVENUE

Our club becomes the EREY ( Every Rotarian Every Year ) club and also the Platinum Club by giving US $ 10000 to Rotary Foundation. This is a rare distinction obtained by only five clubs in dist 3060. Our efforts were appreciated at the Vapi District Conference.


PP Rtn B.C.Sanghani became a major donor to the Rotary Fondation by donating a cumulative amount of US $ 10000.

Polio Plus: Our club participated actively in all NID’s and SNID’s. We gave cable and through CD’s to create awareness. An average of 5 volunteer for five days were provided for houses to house vaccination on each NID and sub NID in ward 17 of Rajkot Municipal Corporation. 4700 packets of Parle G Biscuits were given to all the children getting vaccinated.

20 members of our club attended the TRF seminar hosted by RC Rajkot Midtown.

GSE: It was our pleasure to host for 4 days 3 Group Study Exchange (GSE) team members from U.K. during their stay at Rajkot.
