Rajkot Moderate to heavy showers lashed parts of Saurashtra on Sunday even as fear of acute water shortage looms large over the region due to delayed monsoon.
Districts like Rajkot, Amreli and Bhavnagar received rainfall in the evening.
In Rajkot city, heavy rain was accompanied with lightning and high velocity wind. The city received one inch of rainfall.
This may bring some relief to the residents as, according to the irrigation department, as many as 42 dams out of total 135 in Saurashtra have hit rock bottom. According to the department’s figures, a little over 8 per cent of the total holding capacity is available in these dams.
